about the yarn
This version of TRIUAN is made with our Ahoy Blend: a mix of 70% virgin wool and 30% alpaca. The wool gives the yarn an authentic natural outdoor look and the alpaca adds softness and a nice shine. Ahoy Blend is made from (alpaca) wool from South America and is spun and dyed in Italy. Ahoy Blend has received the GOTS certificate. This is the world’s most acknowledged standard for organic textiles. It guarantees that the yarn is made in an environment-, animal- and human-friendly manner, without the use of toxics. E.g. no bleach is used before the dyeing process, mulesin practices do absolutely not take place, sheep graze free in their natural habitat, people are paid fair wages, etc. In this way the ecological footprint is minimized.
One ball of Ahoy Blend weights 50g and measures 113m. Ahoy Blend is a 6-ply meaning that the yarn is composed of 6 different thinner threads which are twisted together. This results in a strong yarn that does not pill or easily break.
wash and care instructions
Wash items made with Ahoy Blend always by hand at max 30°C. Place your work in lukewarm water with some mild detergent. Let it soak for 5-10 minutes. Rinse it and push the excess water carefully out. Don’t wring. When all the soap has been removed, roll your piece in a dry towel to get rid of more water. Let your work dry flat. If you just want to refresh, take your item with you into the bathroom when you are taking a hot shower. The steam will make possible odeurs disappear. Wool does not need washing as often as acrylic.
