GARTER

Flat knit (2 needles):
Row 1 (uneven): knit all stitches
Row 2 (even): knit all stitches

Note: knitting all stitches results in an identical structure of horizontal ribs on both sides. You can also achieve this effect by purling all stitches, but that is very unusual. Most people prefer to knit.

Circular knit:
Row 1 (uneven): knit all stitches
Row 2 (even): purl all stitches

Note: this stitch is not often use in circular knits. It can be achieved by alternating 1 row fully knit, 1 row fully purl etc.

STOCKINETTE

Circular knit:
Row 1 (uneven): knit all stitches
Row 2 (even): knit all stitches
